Modernist house

Oh yes please.  I have fallen in love with this house in South Africa, spotted on Plastolux this morning.  Designed by Peerutin Architects.

Bathroom lighting

I am thinking about a bit more Tom Dixon love in our main bathroom.  I am seriously besotted with anything these guys do!  Particularly the Beat Light series.

Bevel tiles at Academy

My lovely friend Lisa sent me a link to the most delicious bevel subway tiles at Academy Tiles in Sydney.  A road trip is definitely going to be in order for items for these bathrooms.

I think I'm liking these longer format tiles.  Oooh, and wouldn't they be racy in black?  Not sure if I'm that adventurous just yet though....

Lexus and Tabcorp

Cruising around the Mim Design website yesterday, I came across these images of their designs for the Lexus and Tabcorp marquee's at the Melbourne Cup over the past couple of years.  Oh to have this kind of budget and brief when planning a function!

Hello lovely Copper Shades!

Mim Design

A couple of interesting bathrooms by Mim Design.  These are not bathrooms I'd specifically want for our place, but there's a couple of concepts I like here:

The colour of this bathroom is very soothing, although all that travertine tile is not my gig.  I do love the feature lights coming down in the corner though, and the lines of the floating cabinetry.

Interesting mirror detail here.  Mim always seem to use a feature light in their bathroom designs, which I love.  Bathroom lighting always seems to be such a serious (hence, boring) affair, I think we forget we can have fun with it.

And I've included this image (from the Mim website) below even though it has nothing to do with bathrooms.  Isn't this perfection?

Bathrooms. Again.

Ok, so it may be time for us to think about renovating our main bathroom and ensuite soon.  We've been living with the same daggy 70's fitouts for the past six years (where does the time go??), and I'm seriously in hate with both of them.

Our reno's will definitely be on a budget, I want each room to look the best it can for the least amount possible.   Looking at these pics from Chez Larsson reminded me how much I love simple white subway tiles.  Definitely with the beveled edge. No doubt not as cheap as the flat version, but surely still at the lower end of the budget.

Here's the before pic.  A simple but stunning transformation:

Hare & Grace

Another super stylish Melbourne eatery I'm keen to try out next time we visit.  Supposedly a gastro pub, but from the looks of these images, Hare & Grace is a gastro pub on steriods.
