Kangaroo wallets

You can hear the crickets around here.   A major lack of posting due to our move to Singapore!  I've seen many amazing things and am gathering a lot of inspiration, I just haven't had time to put together any posts.   These beautiful handmade Kangaroo leather wallets by Georgie Cummings caught my eye on The Design Files this morning though.  So elegant and different from anything else on the market that I've seen.  Want!

Orla Kiely + Method

I am officially obsessed with Orla Kiely. I also love Method.  So you can only imagine my excitement when I came across this collaboration today!  Followed by massive disappointment of course, because these lovely items aren't available to us in lonely little Australia :(

Method and Orla Kiely Launch Limited Edition Collection of Hand Wash and Cleaning Products

SAN FRANCISCO--()--Today, Method, the leading innovator in premium, eco-chic household and personal care products, launches its first collaboration with designer Orla Kiely. Four signature prints from the Irish-born designer will now be available as a limited edition collection of Method hand washes and home cleaners in exclusive fall fragrances.
“We love Method’s fun and eco-friendly approach in designing their cleaning products so it’s been wonderful to bring our bright, colorful prints onto the bottles to complement these lovely new fragrances”
Orla’s graphic prints adorn her ready-to-wear clothing collections, house wares, furnishings, perfume and accessories. Method designers worked with Orla to select four bright and fun prints that would complement Method’s iconic bottle designs and inspire four unique fragrances – pear ginger, vanilla chai, bay leaf and primrose.
“Working with Orla and her team was a natural fit given the mutual love of color, patterns and design shared by both our brands,” said Sally Clarke, creative director of Method.
Method used Orla’s patterns as the starting point for the fragrance development with this collection. The coral-colored floral print inspired a primrose fragrance – an updated twist on a classic rose – while an herbaceous, rich bay leaf brings the iconic green stem print to life. The pear pattern inspired a fresh fragrance with a hint of ginger to create a bright, clean aroma that carries across hand wash to cleaning spray and dish soap.
“We love Method’s fun and eco-friendly approach in designing their cleaning products so it’s been wonderful to bring our bright, colorful prints onto the bottles to complement these lovely new fragrances,” said Orla Kiely.
Available this fall at Target stores nationwide and on methodhome.com, the Method + Orla Kiely designer collaboration includes gel and foaming hand wash, dish soap and all-purpose cleaning spray ($2.99 - $3.99). The biodegradable and naturally derived formulas are free of any dirty ingredients, like parabens, phthalates, triclosan and EDTA. And packaged in recyclable bottles made with 100% recycled plastic (PCR).

That little blue box

A good friend turned 40 this week.  When thinking about what to get, I thought - is there anything more exciting than receiving that iconic little blue box, tied with a white ribbon?  It really is hard to beat for such a special occasion.

Chance bags

Gorgeous recycled bags from very clever Lismore designers Chance.  I like their philosophy, best explained on their website:

"Taking a less is more approach, CHANCE reuses what already exists and reworks it into new pieces that do not 'cost the earth'.

Reclaiming outdated garments and surplus materials, we combine Italian leathers, vintage denims and silks, reworking them into capsule collections of practicality and beauty.

The final result are pieces that will carry your heaviest possessions, but leave the lightest footprint."

Life Instyle

I'm off to Life Instyle in Melbourne tomorrow, followed by the Reed Gift Fair from Saturday.  Five whole days on my own to shop!  For my new business venture that is.  I don't think I've ever been away from my little girl for that long since she was born.  I will miss her of course, but it's an exciting thought to just be me for five days straight.

Lexus and Tabcorp

Cruising around the Mim Design website yesterday, I came across these images of their designs for the Lexus and Tabcorp marquee's at the Melbourne Cup over the past couple of years.  Oh to have this kind of budget and brief when planning a function!

Hello lovely Copper Shades!

An inspiring wedding

I am helping one of my best friends organise her wedding for later this year.  Hence, I have been scouring the net for some inspirational pics to get us started.  It's amazing where you can find that most elusive element at times:  inspiration.  Something that moves you and provides you with what you really need most, a starting point.

I came across these amazing wedding pics at Style Me Pretty.  The inspiration was, of all things, a simple ball of yarn.

It's one of the most unique and interesting colour schemes for a wedding I've seen.  Not everyone's cup of tea by any means, but I have to say I am a little bit in love.

Dahlias

I was just catching up on some blog reading as I'm house-bound with a rather sick 3 year old.  Came across these images of the most beautiful dahlias over on Design Sponge.  Isn't the beauty that nature provides just amazing at times?  Stunning.  My day feels brightened a little.

Four more sleeps....

....until we head away to beautiful Byron Bay.  We are so desperate for this holiday!  It's been a tough year and a little break away is just what we need.

One of the things I'm actually most excited about is exploring Bangalow, a beautiful little town in the Byron hinterland.  Such a cute place, filled with amazing little shops, galleries and restaurants.  Let's hope the weather is good for us!

This is one of the restaurants I have on my list.  Yes - I have a list!  And I plan on doing all of it.
